I bought the gates timing kit + water pump off eBay for my GSi 2.6 £120 that price is three years ago so might have gone up now though.

Bloody hell just a little :/

When I change the timming belts I normally change drive belt + drive belt tensioner change antifreeze with doing the water pump anyways and normally service it at the same time

You need to make sure you get the right kit for your chassis number. I believe yours is a phase 2. The difference between phase 1 and 2 is like chalk and cheese. Courtenay or any Vauxhall parts dept will be able to order the correct one based on the chassis number. The belt, tensioner, idle pulley and bolts are diifferent sizes.

Pulley for phase 2 is mounted on the block but for phase 1, it's on the oil pump. M8 bolts on the phase 2 tensioner and M6 on phase 1. Reason being newer facelift engine had better oil distribution and a better pump.

The part number for the 2.6 is K035453XS

Defo gates belt fella cos if anything goes rong and it's not your folt and is folty belt they will send there tec out to your car and if is there folt with the part they will rebuild your engine free off charge they are really good like that mate gates all day,and like neil said they is two types of belts and kits the belts one has more teeth than the other and the pulleys are different as well were they bolt to and some 2.6 come with adjuster pully as well makes life loads easyer and the other one is just a free run pulley witch means take the slack of the belt to the top adjuster pulleys if makes sense mate?
