Hi folks, hope you all had a very Merry Christmas

2 days ago i fired up the signum and after 2-3 seconds she cut out. when i restarted her the lights came on when the light switch was OFF, switching them on and off made no difference... the lights stayed on untill i switched ignition off. I tried to restart her and nothing... she was dead

this was late christmas eve so i disconnected the battery and left her till this morning.. reconnected the battery and she fired up straight away but same problems with lights and after switching ignition off shes totally dead again....... any ideas please anyone.?

    still not sorted the problem...

sometimes the central locking (keyfob buttons) work and sometimes not

sometimes she starts and sometimes shes dead and sometimes she clicks away

sometimes the instrument cluster lights up (ingition on) and sometimes not

sometimes the instrument cluster lights up (lights switched on) and sometimes not

lights are random compared to the on/off switch position

rev counter needle sometimes moves up to idle when shes running and sometimes not but never rises above idle even when revving hard

i cant see any loose earths but its always possible ive missed one and ive opened the ABS plug and cleaned with WD40
i've taken off steering wheel and removed CIM module then put it back with no difference..... but noticed the date on the module is 12.06.07 and its an 05 car so this has been replaced at some point....

does the symptoms suggest the CIM module needs replacing.?

edit..... the battery is only 2-3 months old but ive put it onto charge just incase

i've been told it will be the CIM module by a mechanic friend, he's away on holiday so cant look at it unfortunately but says i'll need to get a replacement module programmed to the car

what is the latest version of Op Com (or best for a 2005 Signum).?

will Op Com show if it is definately the CIM module.?

cheers in advance for any feedback

in the end it wasn't needed.... a mate suggested removing the instrument cluster which i did, took it indoors and left it overnight... put it back in and hey presto not a problem since

apparently they are prone to dampness problems and as the car had been unused for a few days (well, it was the holidays and alcohol was being consumed lolz) and it was constantly minus temperatures so i guess this was the problem.

out of interest tho, why do you recommend opcom 2014 rather than the latest version (think 1.7 from 2017 was the latest i saw on ebay)

Electrical problems which have a simple fix - I like that. When on holiday recently, my Garmin Nuvi stopped working. A real head scratching moment. But after speaking to an expert friend of mine, the solution was to bring it indoors overnight and keep it in the warm. Hey presto, the following day it was back working again.
