    Paper Clip Test

Pull up handbrake and pull off oddments/coin tray from under handbrake you should then see a white socket sometimes with a black plastic covering it if so remove it

    This is your OBDII/Tech2 Socket

Using a paperclip or thin piece of wire you need to bridge pins 4&6, pin 1 is the closest to the steering wheel and 8 is closest to the driver’s seat

    9 [] [] 1
    10 [] [] 2
    11 [] [] 3
    12 [] [] 4 <\
    13 [] [] 5 | Paper Clip/Wire
    14 [] [] 6 </
    15 [] [] 7
    16 [] [] 8

Then turn the ignition to position 2 (Do Not Start It Tho) and watch your EML flash as below

    10 flashes = 0
    1 flash = 1
    2 flash = 2
    And so on

    **********-*-*-********** = 10 flashes, pause, 1 flash, pause, 1 flash, pause and 10 flashes
    Code 0110 = MAF sensor

When the codes repeat like this means that the codes you have are as follows

    **********-*-*-***** (0115)
    **********-***-***-***** (0335)
    **********-*-*-***** (0115)
    **********-***-***-***** (0335)

P0115 Engine coolant temperature circuit malfunction C-11
    P0335 Incorrect RPM Signal C-06

    And the codes

The paperclip error code is coming up with 0340..."P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit No Signal C-13"
I've noticed that while driving the managment light sometimes goes out on its own and comes back on some time later.
Vehicle records show the belt and sensor were changed at 75,000 and now showing 98,000 on the clock.
Not driven like a looney and serviced when required.
Is the fault a bad one? you think maybe its just in need of a wire wiggle? or will replacing the part "maybe" close the issue down?

    Thanks
    Kevin

Hi if it's an intermittent fault I'd suggest the plug, loose wire or dodgy sensor as it's reading there's no sensor, spray some WD40 in the plug to clean it might be slightly corroded plug in the car itself

You will need to do the alternative way to read the codes if pin 6 is missing. Apply and hold the accelerator and brake pedals and then turn the ignition on. The eml should now flash.

EML and ABS lights are on permanatly for me on my Vectra B (X18XE). Using the paperclip method, it gives 0335 when the engine isn't turning over and nothing flashes when I start the motor.

I had read to bridge pins 5&6 but I've tried 4&6 too. Same for both. Try the pedal method?

Hi, i realise this is the old thread but wondered if someone could advise me on an issue i'm having. Recently bought an 02 plate vectra b, 1.8i petrol for a bargain price. The car drives great and the only issues seem to be minor, temp gauge will reach normal running temperature and then drop significantly when driving at speed, rising again slowly at idle, is this normal? The car recently had a new CTS put in due to the EML coming on just after i bought it. Also the revs sometimes stick when the engine is cold, seen alot of posts mentioning throttle body getting clogged but when i spoke to my local mechanic he said this sounded more like a leaking hose taking in air.... The drivers side wiper will sometimes over shoot when on the quicker settings, does this just need tightening? And finally, i recently trie the pedal test to check for any fault codes, the ones that have been repaired did show up before fixing them, now when i try it the car/spanner light flashes continuously until i start the engine, is this normal or should i be concerned. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated, i love the car but have become a little paranoid after the EML came onthe week after purchasing it! Just found out i have a baby on the way so want to make sure the car is reliable and free from problems. Thanks in advance!
