As long as you get a canbus friendly kit you will have no problems, a fair few members on here including myself have a HID kit and as far as I know the HID option has not been enabled on my car, hth

As Jase has said however its more for if you have the headlight washer system fitted you can activate it through op-com

    Anyone please help

Hi all im a new member to the group and havent worked out how i start a thread, so ive probly commented in the wrong place but i recently put a hid kit on my car and it works fine, but i replaced sidelights with leds and they constantly flash when not turned on, so i then paid extra and bought more leds but this time i paid extra for no canbus error sidelights, but once again they kept flashing even though they was supposedly error free, i then bought some cancellors, which basically plugged in to the sidelights then i plugged my bulb in to that, if people can understand what i mean

can you get a basic h7 bulb upgrade for the dip beam projector lights without having to get ballast/ full hid kits? i bought h7 100w xenon bulbs off ebay and they actually produce less light on the road than the standard 55w hallogen units. total poop-a-doop

You could get some osram nightbreakers or similat but if you want the better light output buy the better product. As with anything you get what you pay for. HID's are far better

can you buy direct bulb replacements without having to go down the HID kit road? i tried 100w h7 xenon bulbs i bought on ebay but they actually put out less light on the road than the standard halogen items.

looking at getting HID installed in my vectra b, in Ireland the NCT MOT equivalent now apparently check for self leveling function and spray cleaning.
this makes this project a non starter, I think.
any ideas on how to incorporate these functions?

More hassle than it's worth mate. It'd be just as easy remove/disconnect the HID bulbs and refit the old Halogens for the test.
If you really want to fit HID's, get a set of OE Xenon lamps and a front bumper with the headlamp washers on it and stick them on the car. You can run the OE Xenon bulbs with an aftermarket HID kit with suitable conversion leads available on eBay. There's no need for the self leveling mechanism as they can't test that anyway.
Only problem is the OE Xenon headlamps ain't cheap. You'd be lucky to find a set for less than €200.
