Have had this Vectra a while now. It is a standard x1.6xel but engine seized over a year ago. Body is very clean so didn't want to scrap it. Toyed with idea of transferring 1.8 from CDX into it but the motor tax put me off. Then acquired a 98 Astra x14xe that was rusted beyond saving due to a quarter panel replacement many years ago. Head and block are same as 1.6 so it was a no brainer. Here's some pics.

    The Vectra.

    Donor Astra.

Fitted in straight forward enough. Transferred inlet manifold, loom, ECU, coolant pipes & flywheel from 1.6 onto 1.4 and in it went. Next do to is send off forms for engine change to avail of 1.4 tax & get NCT. Will also be putting in CDX interior.

Have started moving interior bits across. First up is out with the old.

Put rear seat back leathers into place.

Then onto door cards. Fronts were straight swap. Rears took a bit more time as CDX have elec rear windows. Started out like this

Had to swap looms from doors and window regulators.

Also swapped interior light switches in B pillars for lights in door cards to work. Then just put in fuse for rear windows and swapped main switch and all works as it should. Rears now looks like this.

Does the vec still chug along ok with the 1.4 matey?

Remember the old 14xe lumps being really lively in astra anyway ;)

    Still drives like 1.6

TBH I noticed no difference between 1.6 and 1.4. Am using 1.6 manifiolds and ECU to run the 1.4 so that may be part of the reason. Probably won't have same max speed but am not bothered. Also there is a difference of €129 a year cheaper motor tax which I do like.

Cheers. 1.4 in a Vec B is also a nod back to the past as Vectra A (Mk3 Cav) also had a 1.4 option and Ascona C ( Mk2 Cav) had a 1.3.

@beef1985 Thanks for offer but am happy to leave engine running standard 1.6 bits for now. Am currently stripping interior out of donor CDX and am going to put climate control into this one. Bit of an arse ache to do but I reckon it would be a shame to throw climate away with rotten shell.

Had ruptured a disc in my back over the summer so progress with anything other than healing was nill. As I am now mobile again I have been making progress. Plan has changed a bit as when I began to strip climate control from donor car it became clear what a hellish nightmare finishing the transfer would be. Standard AC it is then, so transferred rest of interior across. Keeping standard A/C also allows me to use irmscher wooden look ashtray / cup holders with heater control surround I had in loft. Some pics.

Now have sights set on front fogs, Interior roof lights and CDR600 with glove box disc changer from CDX. I have not decided if I will use angel eye xenon lights in this one yet.

Cheers tubbz2015. I meant to say Shark eye Xenons as they are the ones I have from donor CDX. Looks like a PITA to fit properly as there are wires back to sensors on both axles that are part of car loom. I believe they can be fitted without sensors but no hurry. A bit more progress. New roof lights.

Fitted front fogs & wired em in and that is it for this one.

Not planning any more mods or additions. Just got test done so is good to go. 1.4 is pulling well and is good on motion potion.
